Surface grinders generally use the outside diameter edge of the wheel to do the work. The component is held in a magnetic chuck.<br \/>\nFace grinding is generally done with the flat side of a grinding wheel or face of a grinding disc with the wheel mounted vertically and rotating(or in some cases horizontally). Face grinders generally rotate both the grinding wheel and the component. The component is either clamped into place or held in a chuck.
