The area around Trump Tower was a great place to start our day of shooting in Chicago. You have to love shooting downtown, there are so many vertical shapes and colors. The sky was really helping as well.

Unfortunately, I don’t own a fish-eye / ultra-wide angle lens, so I had to improvise. This image was made from 18 separate images (6 groups of 3). I converted each group to HDR first and then photomerged them using photoshop. I think this technique works pretty well and will continue to try and perfect it.

Trump Tower is 98-stories and is 1,389 feet (423 m) including its spire. The roof is 1,170 feet (360 m) above the ground. Before 9/11 this was to become the tallest building in the world, but Trump scaled his plans back after what happened to the WTC.
