What’s the extrusion process during CNC Machining?

Extrusion is a well-known process throughout the manufacturing industry and is used to get a product of the desired shape and size having a specific cross-sectional area. The results were obtained by pushing an already manufactured product through a die that is of the desired cross-section. The main advantage of this method is that we can manufacture a product of any cross-sectional area from the existing product without using any new material. It is important in the sense that it is not possible to manufacture a product in all the sizes known to mankind as it will take a lot of time, space and money as well for no reason. Products are manufactured in standard sizes and are modified as and when required according to the demand. The end result of the extrusion process is a well-finished product.

Extrusion allows the manufacturer to produce complex shaped products with ease and one can also use brittle materials as well because the only force acting on the product is the sheer force and compressive forces.

CNC, abbreviated form of Computer numerical control is a modern age technique that allows the user to control heavy machinery with the help of computer programs. One doesn’t need to present manually at the machine to control it. Simply type in the desired program in the coding language and the advanced machine will do the work on its own. CNC has greatly reduced the production time as well as labor cost and increased the product finishing as well. In addition to all that, the machine can be operated in various different speeds without the need of a worker to change it each time and a large number of tools can be used at a time so that the product is in accordance with the design and there is no deviation. Other high precision activities can be performed as well on the machine.

Extrusion done with the help of CNC machining has opened a lot of new possibilities for the manufacturers to develop new advanced products that were earlier very difficult to manufacture and can only be produced by highly skilled manual labor. Extrusion machining done on CNC machines has greatly increased the accuracy in the dimensions of the product which is of great importance to many space programs as even a small deviation of a millimeter causes the product to fail. The process also allows the processing of large products like long pipes measuring up to a meter with ease which would have been a legit nightmare when done manually.

One of the major advantages of extrusion by CNC is that the same product can be replicated as there is no human interference. The program once fed into the machine will be in action as long as the user wants it to be the products will be in accordance with the program because of which all the products will be the exact image of each other, causing a uniformity among all of them.

Since China has a large number of factories in there, CNC machine shop in China is gaining a lot of steam as it has revolutionized the whole industry and also increased the margin of profits.
